The Light by Jeremy Brake

The Light is a slideshow of images made from 2014-2022. It includes street, portrait, nature photography, and the intersection of all three. The images are put together to form a narrative because it is through a series of images that a photographic artist can best convey the unique effects that can only be seen with a camera.

I rarely use photoshop to alter the content of my images. That type of manipulation moves the image away from what can be seen through a camera. However, I believe that with digital photogaraphy artists can now practice in a way that was impossible before. The digital medium allows a new ever present excitement for photography to form. This slideshow is the result of my own excitement for photography during the many creative wanderings I’ve had with a camera.

If I’ve done my job right I hope that the viewer can understand something of what it feels like to be alive to the possibilities of what can be be seen. I hope this slideshow conveys a bit of what photography can do, and therefore inspire your own creative exploration.
