Pan African Flag Raising in Grand Parade Square 2019

To mark the beginning of African Heritage month, Halifax raised its Pan African flag during a ceremony on Feb. 1st at Grand Parade Square. The ceremony was freezing cold (-12 C), but dozens of residents braved the harsh conditions.  There was songs sung by Zoe Tolliver, the flag was raised by Halifax’s Poet Laureate Dr. Afua Cooper, and afterwards there was drumming and a reception inside city hall.
