Master Chef Halifax – Cooking for a cause

This is a photo essay covering the Master Chef Halifax Cooking for a cause competition at the Halifax Central Library.  The event had three celebrity chefs competing to create the most creative and best tasting meal using foods from a mystery box. In the box was items that you would normally get from a food bank. The chefs had one hour to make a meal for a panel of judges.

Afterwards the chefs talked to the public and Dr. Brady from Mount Saint Vincent University meal exchange held a panel on household and individual food security. The day was all put together by MSVU students in support of the MSVU Meal Exchange. The event was sponsored by the Berkely Retirement residence, Nourish NS,  which is a great charity that helps fund improvements in food literacy for students, and the Halifax Central Library.
