Photography is my way of confronting, examining, recording, and reflecting on the world around me. Since 2015 I’ve been creating candid photographs of people living their everyday lives. My work is a window showing my surroundings, and a mirror reflecting my thoughts.
Photography is an attempt at putting my best self into the final image. I often find the world around me is more interesting than anything I can imagine. Striving to see and appreciate others has been an immense benefit to my mental health. I’d like to share that feeling through this work.
I choose to dedicate myself to no posing or photoshop in my work in order to create a dialogue of undisturbed reality. The only transformation is the four corners I choose to put around the world.
Street photography has real world value because it’s important for a society to see itself without the varnish of professional posing or corporate curation. So much of our lives is spent in isolation within the confines of our job or recuperating for the next chore.
Many among us suffer from social anxiety. Street photographs can act as a kind of homeopathic medicine. A way of confronting the fear of being around others through the photograph. A window into the world and a mirror back at the creator. When we look at it as separate viewers the print can be a kind of mirror of us; and if crafted well this can be an okay thing.
Thanks for your time 🙂
